Note Photos below are those of an orchid which was cultivated by Hiroshima Botanical Garden and displayed as Dendrobium gracilicaule. However, due to its yellow and non-spotted flower color, I think this orchid is really Dendrobium gracilicaule var. howeanum, and Dendrobium gracilicaule var. howeanum is a synonym of Dendrobium comptonii Rendle. See Howard P. Wood, The Dendrobiums, A.R.G. Gantner Verlag K.G., 2006, PA 517 and PA 518.
CITES check list volume II has suggested that Dendrobium drake-casttilloi Kränzlin (syn. Tropilis drake-castilloi (Kränzlin) Rauschert) is also a synonym of Dendrobium comptonii Rendle.
